Dear Parents and Pupils,
I would like to welcome everyone back to a new school term. I do hope everyone had a good break. My pupils started off the week learning a new Math topic (Ordinal Numbers) as well as reading a new big book for English.
I told them that we will be dealing with bigger numbers and reading about big or huge things and creatures...hmm for example like 'Giants'. There will be books on animals to look out for too and a learning journey trip to ______ (Try to make a guess!) Ms Salina definitely loves Term 2 books besides the fact that they are an interesting read. I can think of so many fun educational activities to do with you.
As for these 2 weeks, we are reading this big book called, 'The Hungry Giant'. We will also be starting on class writing, group writing as well as individual writing based on this book. Writing will be a fun skill to learn as there will be experiential learning activity taking place before one starts to write confidently.
Apart from Math and English, we started off the week with some changes too. I practise changing the class monitor and monitress every term. I believe it is just my way to give opportunities for pupils to take on important leadership roles. There should also be equal leadership opportunities for the rest of my 28 pupils and as such everyone has a role to play in my class. They make my classroom management more efficient and put structure in place.
My Term 1 Monitors - Preston and Zi Xian had done such wonderful job in keeping 'law and order' in my class. Not only that, my pupils respect them because they were never nasty towards their classmates and that my pupils understood if their names were written on the board for misbehaving. Being a good monitor is never an easy job because one has to be firm and fair. Thank you Preston and Zi Xian for doing such a good job and I hope your leadership capabilities do not just end there. A good leader will always be remembered and looked up upon. Let's also welcome my 2 new monitors - Alvin and Jie Xin. I am so glad my pupils cheered for them when I announced their names last Monday. So Alvin and Jie Xin, do give your best in performing these class monitors' roles and responsibilities.

In future entries to come, I will be featuring some of the other subject monitors in my class who are also equally important. Yes, without them, Ms Salina will have to do alot of things alone! Thus, do stay tune for more.
