::Week 4 - International Friendship Day and MLEA Ice Cream::
Sunday, April 15, 2012
Phew! This week has been filled with so much fun activities. We celebrated International Friendship Day as well as Rainbow Day 2. Rainbow Day 2 performances were done by our P5s and a P4 class. These classes performed so well and we could see the joy in performing together as a class! We also learnt what International Friendship Day was all about. Besides that, in class, we discussed and shared about the culture of frendship and having friends from other countries too. Jie Xin was wearing a nice 'batik" outfit that originated from Myanmar and Jian Tong was wearing a Cheongsam originated from China. I took the chance to put on a pretty 'saree' that was lent to me by a very nice teacher in school, Mdm Pavithra. I told my class that I may not be from India and I do not speak the language but I can make friends with people not of my same race and culture. Friends always do things together and one of them is to wear the same clothes. Furthermore, since we were celebrating International Friendship Day that day, why not have fun and enjoy wearing the same kind of outfits together. I managed to create engagement and discussion in class for sure!
Some sneak peeks of International Friendship Day cum Rainbow Day 2:

We had our ice cream party too last Thursday along with the MLEA Group writing. My pupils truly enjoyed decorating their ice cream sundae as well as eating them. Check out these photos:

::Best Group of the Month and Star Pupil of March::
Our Blue Group emerged as the Best Group of the Month again for March. We definitely must learn from them as to how they can maintain this title. Blue group always cooperate well as a group. They do not raise their voice at each other even when they have misunderstanding. They encourage fellow group mates to do their best and naturally help one another. I do not have a problem with this group as I don't hear them complaining about each other. I believe they always have this attitude of 'Compassion' in them. I hope other groups will learn the way Blue group cooperates and help one another in class and outside class. Well done Blue Group!

As for my Star Pupil for March, it was actually quite difficult for me to make a decision this time. (Ms Salina should change to Star Pupils of the Month next time.) Many of my pupils had shown very good progress and also in terms of their behaviour. I told them that winning this award means that person has always been maintaining good behaviour and not just because he or she wants to win the award so badly, he or she pretended to be very good pupil for that particular month only. However, those who have shown improvements in their behaviour, their efforts are recognised daily and will be given recognition through their individual stamp chart or through group points. Hence, my star pupil for this March is Xin Yu. This girl is also one of my class librarian. She deserves to be awarded because she always displays good leadership capabilities, always self-dsciplined and being her gentle self, she is well-liked by many. Congratulations to you, Xin Yu!

::ePAL - Art::
Monday, April 2, 2012
This term, 1A will be doing Art for their ePAL programme. Some of my pupils were confused as to why we will have two Art lessons in a week. Just to clarify, the ePAL Art will be definitely a different Art approach on itself that those that I will conduct for my class every Friday. Pupils will have a lot of Art hands-on activities for example making puppet of themselves and etc for ePAL this term. Thus why, pupils are encouraged to bring their own scissors and glue for their ePAL Art lesson every Wednesday.

For this upcoming ePAL, I will be helping the Ms Angela (The Art ePAL instructor) to collect recycled materials like toilet rolls and tissue boxes from the pupils. Pupils are to bring these items by Wednesday.
