::Rainbow Day 3 and Racial Harmony Day::
Sunday, July 22, 2012

This week we celebrated Racial Harmony Day in conjunction with Rainbow Day 3. We had our blue and red group pupils to start the show and tell in class during our EL Lessons. This coming Friday in week 5, we are going to visit the Peranakan Museum as part of our P1 Learning Journey for the year. We have been talking about the 'Peranakans' as well as things found in the past during our Social Studies lessons. Museum will definitely not be a boring place to visit afterall since my pupils were amazed with what they have learnt about the Peranakans and the things I've shown to them and get them to guess what they were used for.

Lots of pictures taken for the past 2 weeks, enjoy!

::We are back!::
Sunday, July 8, 2012

Dear Parents and Pupils,

Welcome back to 1A Class Blog. My apologies for not able to update the past 2 weeks due to some logging on issues on this blog. Managed to get it fixed today.

There had been a lot of changes and movement for this term. One of which, my pupils were put into new groups. They needed this very much so that they would get to interact more effectively with different 'friends' in class. My pupils somehow 'grow' alot this time and we had lesser of peer to peer complaints to deal with this term. With expectations and reinforcement of daily teaching and learning routines, I must say we started off the term rather smoothly.

We already finished our units on Mass and Picture Graphs and is now starting on Counting to 40 for Mathematics. As for English, we finished the unit of Tall, Short, Big or Small. New big book to be read this coming week.

PAL continues this term and 1A just had 1st session of their Music PAL last Wednesday. Parents do take note that pupils are to bring their own healthy snacks on every Wednesday and Thursday as they will be given some time for break. Appreciate if you can help to pack for them simple healthy snacks e.g. bread, sandwiches, biscuits or fruit.

The Holistic Assessments will start this coming week and parents will be notified of the dates via letter tomorrow. Just for your information, pupils will be going through some EL Podcasting practices this week before they will be tested formally. Math Performance Task 4 on Mass and Picture Graphs will be conducted later this week but there will not be any weightage.

Just for your viewing pleasure, these are just some snapshots of what we went through in Term 3 week1 and 2:

Before I end off today's entry, I would like to thank Jie Xin and Alvin for being 1A class monitors in Term 2. I am pretty sure, my pupils had learnt alot from both of them. We welcome Jian Tong and Neo to shoulder these leadership roles and responsibilities this term. Let's give them our fullest support. Neo was also our May/June Pupil of the Month.

See you in my next entry!
